If you've ever been to a casino and seen a group of people huddled around some game all yelling and jumping around, you were most likely looking at the craps table. It's an exciting game but it can also be one of the most intimidating casino games for new players. Even when playing Internet craps, it can be quite confusing for anyone who hasn't played before.

With all the excitement and a complex betting table, it's understandable that newer players feel hesitant about approaching the craps table. They just don't want to look like fools or make the table mad! Or, when playing on the Internet, what's the point in playing a game that you don't know how to play?

You may not find people jumping up and down at the Internet craps tables, however they still draw quite a bit of attention. Internet craps is a very popular table game when playing at the various Internet Casinos.

Craps is a dice based gambling game and is very common in casinos around the world and on the Internet. The players at a craps table take turns rolling two dice. Each round is called a hand and the player with the dice makes an initial "come out" roll to start the hand.

If the come out roll is a 7 or 11, it's an automatic win. If it's a 2, 3 or 12, the player has rolled "craps" and it's an automatic loss. If the come out roll is any other number, that number is the point. After the point has been set, that player keeps rolling the dice until either the point comes up again or a 7 is rolled, whichever comes first.

Basic Rules of Craps

Some of the Internet craps bets can get pretty complicated but there are plenty of bets that are simple to make. The easiest way to explain the rules is to just go over a couple of the simpler bets.

The Pass Line Bet

This is the first rule a new Internet craps player should learn. As soon as you have this rule down pat, you'll have a pretty decent understanding of the game. You'll see almost everyone bet the pass line when watching a table. This is one of the most popular bets and has one of the smallest house advantages.

Try Craps at Bodog

The pass line bet is automatically won if the first roll of the dice (the come out roll) is a 7 or 11. If the come out roll is a 2, 3 or 12, the bet is automatically lost. All other rolls (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10) establish "the point."

When the point is established, the shooter continues rolling the dice until he either rolls the point again or he rolls a 7. If the shooter rolls the point before he rolls a 7, the pass line bet is won. If the shooter rolls a 7 before the point number, the pass line bet is lost.

As you probably know, this craps strategy applies to both casino and Internet play. Internet craps is actually a great way to learn the game of craps before going to a casino.

Don't Pass Line Bet

This bet is the exact opposite of the pass line bet. Players who bet "don't pass" automatically win if the come out roll is a 2 or 3 (a 12 is a draw). If the come out roll is a 7 or 11, the bet is automatically lost.

If any other number is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10), the don't pass bettor is hoping to see a 7 before the point is rolled again. Don't pass bets are sometimes called "betting wrong" or "betting the dark side" because they are betting against the rest of the table.

If you place a don't pass bet and win, you might not want to jump up and down with excitement because the rest of the table probably just lost. But then again, if you are playing Internet craps, then you can do whatever you'd like since you can play craps from the comfort of you own home.

Come Bet

Come bets are almost identical to pass line bets except that they are only made after a point has been set. Just like the pass line bet, the come bet wins if the next roll is a 7 or 11 and loses if the next roll is 2, 3 or 12. If the next roll is any other number, the come bet is moved to a box representing that number. The come bet wins if that number is rolled again before a 7 is rolled again and it loses if a 7 appears first.

Don't Come Bet

These, as you probably guessed, are the exact opposite of come bets. Don't come bets are made after the point has been set. Don't come bets win if the next roll is a 2 or 3 and tie if the next roll is a 12. If the next roll is any other number, come bets win if a 7 comes before that number and lose if that number is rolled again before a 7.

These are the most basic bets in craps, but there are many more in addition to these. I recommend you get the hang of these bets before moving on to the more advanced ones. Many of the more advanced bets really give the house an edge over the player, but the the reward could be much larger.

Once you get the hang of it, Internet craps is a fun and exciting game. Most everyone at the craps table cheers for the same outcomes so it creates a fun sense of camaraderie at the craps table.
